William :continuously tells Stella he has feelings for her while sober, drunk, with prompting and without prompting, kisses her on 2 separate occasions, hired her a professional chef, thoughtfully finds a priceless item for her that she has been trying to acquire for years, jumps into a pool to save her, jumps into an ocean to save her, takes a literal knife for her *

Stella "so obviously he has no feelings for me and is a homosexual"

Sure, okay, let's just not answer direct questions that could be resolved with yes or no .

Out of anyone in this novel , the last person that I expected to be the harbinger of truth was Nathalia

Stella... How are you simultaneously, the smartest person and also , the most stupidly ignorant person on this planet

No , you are one hundred percent correct on those questions. I get so frustrated with her lack of emotional intelligence toward him and I honestly feel like it has to be her lack of self esteem. Even when people compliment her for her good work and talent and figure, she tends to ignore them. Even though it makes sense , it really is annoying to see a play out time after time and week after week. When someone is emotionally constipated , as william has laid all of his cards out on The table before you And you're the one that doesn't get it , you have to be willfully ignorant. I honestly feel like subconsciously. She knows exactly what is happening. It is just that she doesn't want to bother putting herself at risk anymore.

    So. I have to ask...

Why is Stella that dense when it comes to William? He's already confessed twice, and she wonders why he gets angry when she makes comments like leaving with another woman?

And to top it off. She never stops to consider that his confessions are real, but keeps dismissing it as him joking or their drunk.

I get her precious marriage with Marc has left her sense of self esteem twisted when it comes to love, but with her parents and research, she's bold, decisive and quite intelligent.

So for someone intelligent, why does she act so dumb? Hi IQ, low EQ? Or is her idea of love so broken from what Marc did to her that she can see genuine affection anymore?
