I really wanted to like this book but it is really infuriating. Griffin is a sexist, who does not care about his mate as actual person. It's gross. He spanks her and treats her like a child. Ick.

I enjoyed this and had a hard time not reading it. The names get a bit to similar in parts and sometimes the author loses who they are talking about but the plot was good. Kairen is a great partner. He respects Cassie and doesn't need to play games or treat her like less than to make himself feel powerful. The end is heartbreaking. I would have loved an epilogue to see her reunited with her loved ones and see who is on the Golden Throne.
